Course outline for Agent Platforms and Frameworks
Framework choices can introduce unnecessary coupling. Compare agent platform abstractions against a small task and determine when custom orchestration is simpler.
About Agent Platforms and Frameworks
Framework choices can introduce unnecessary coupling. Compare agent platform abstractions against a small task and determine when custom orchestration is simpler.
Agent Platforms and Frameworks Course Objectives
- Compare framework tool, state, and execution abstractions.
- Specify the same bounded task across two frameworks.
- Document a framework selection with explicit trade-offs.
Pre-requisites
- Basic programming and API integration experience.
- Familiarity with agent loops and workflow state.
Lab Setup
- Computer with a code editor and compatible local framework runtimes.
- Use mocked model responses or a local model.
- Remote API accounts are optional and must be nonproduction; no paid platform is assumed.
Detailed Course Outline
Proposed modulesModule 1: Platform abstractions
- OpenAI Agents SDK
- OpenAI agent APIs
- Microsoft Agent Framework
- Google ADK
Practical outcome: Compare task and tool interfaces across platform examples.
Module 2: Orchestration choices
- LangChain / LangGraph
- n8n
- Framework comparison
- Framework vs custom orchestration
Practical outcome: Select an orchestration approach against explicit requirements.
Practical exercise
- Implement or simulate a small task in two approaches and compare testability and dependencies.
